Three Thousand Years of Longing (OmU)

Dr. Alithea Binnie lebt zufrieden umgeben von Büchern und Mythen. Eine Konferenz führt sie nach Istanbul. Beim Besuch des Bazars entdeckt sie eine alte Glasflasche. Zurück in ihrem Hotel beobachtet Alithea voller Erstaunen wie ein Dschinn dem Gefäß entweicht. Und ganz wie in den Überlieferungen bietet der Flaschengeist ihr drei Wünsche im Tausch für seine Freiheit an. Doch Alithea zögert. Mit Geschichten aus seinem Leben und längst vergangenen Zeiten, von Abenteuern und Lieben versucht der Dschinn, sie für sich zu gewinnen. Berührt von seinen Erlebnissen spricht Alithea schließlich einen Wunsch aus, der ihr beider Leben für immer verändern wird…

Veranstaltungsort: Innenhof am S-Bahnhof Charlottenburg (Stuttgarter Pl. 36), Eingang hinter den Fahrradständern.

Three Thousand Years of Longing (English with German Subtitles)

While attending a conference in Istanbul, Dr. Alithea Binnie happens to encounter a djinn who offers her three wishes in exchange for his freedom. This presents two problems: first, she doubts that he’s real, and second, because she’s a scholar of story and mythology, she knows all the cautionary tales of wishes gone wrong. The djinn pleads his case by telling her fantastical stories of his past. Eventually, she’s beguiled and makes a wish that surprises them both.

Venue: Inner courtyard at Charlottenburg S-Bahn station (Stuttgarter Pl. 36), entrance behind the bicycle stands.
